State owned telecom firm BSNL today signed a pact with Finnish telecom gear maker Nokia to roll out 4G services in 10 telecom circles covering western and southern regions in India.
“We are really proud to have technology partner like Nokia with whom we are working in South and West Zone of the country, rolling out the latest single RAN Technology, and further moving towards 5G…,” BSNL CMD Anupam Shrivastava said in a statement.
Nokia will deploy the technology in 10 telecom circles in India – Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Telangana – serving large cities, businesses, technology and tourist hubs and nearly 38 million BSNL subscribers.
The network technology that will be deployed by Nokia will help BSNL to save operational costs while supporting 2G, 3G and 4G subscribers in a single radio unit, the statement said.
“New VoLTE services will allow BSNL’s 4G subscribers to experience HD-quality voice and faster call connections,” it added.
As per Nokia MBiT Index 2018, released last week , 4G contributed to 82% of data traffic in 2017 and the monthly 4G data usage per user was nearly 11GB per user per month in India.
In 2017, Nokia and BSNL signed an agreement to explore and develop the applications of 5G for the India market.
“We are pleased to continue our longstanding relationship with BSNL on this important project in India. The deployment of our technologies will enable BSNL to launch exciting new voice and data services, satisfying growing demand in India,” Sanjay Malik, head of India Market at Nokia, said.

Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio Infocomm and Samsung Electronics on Monday said the two companies will work together to set up a nationwide Internet of Things (IoT) network.
Both the companies also said they will continue their partnership to bring Long-Term Evolution (LTE) coverage to 99% of the Indian population and significantly improve network capacity across the country.
The IoT network will support a variety of consumer and enterprise use cases which include vehicle tracking, smart appliances, smart metering, security and surveillance.
“We will once again partner with Samsung to offer a suite of innovative services for all users,” Reliance Jio Infocomm President Jyotindra Thacker said.
According to the company, Reliance Jio is ready to pave the way for a fully digital India in which IoT will reach every corner of the country.
Making sure that everyone benefits from mobile broadband that is both available and affordable to all is our top priority,” he said.

Samsung Electronics President and Head of Networks Business Youngky Kim said, ”We are delighted to contribute to Jio’s success story and rapid growth. We have been striving to offer the best experience possible to all users at Jio.”

India’s largest telecom operator Bharti Airtel on Monday said it has joined a new global collaboration to bring high-speed and uninterrupted in-flight data connectivity to mobile customers. The global partnership Seamless Alliance, whose other founding members include OneWeb, Airbus, Delta and Sprint, will work towards leveraging satellite technology to offer high-speed data connectivity to mobile users even when they are up in the air, an Airtel statement said.
“Airtel has joined the Seamless Alliance which will usher in a new era of open innovation for mobile operators and airlines by empowering mobile operators to extend their services into airline cabins,” the statement added. The global initiative, announced today in Barcelona, will also look at bringing into its fold other industry operators beyond the five founding members.
Together, these members hope to “eliminate the immense costs and hurdles commonly associated with acquisition, installation, and operation of data access infrastructure”.  This will be done by streamlining system integration and certification, providing open specifications for interoperability, increasing accessibility for passengers, and enabling simple and integrated billing, the statement added.
“We are delighted to be a founding member of this innovative technology platform to bring seamless connectivity to customers in the true sense,”  Gopal Vittal, CEO (India & South Asia), Bharti Airtel, said. Over 370 million mobile customers across Airtel’s global network will be able to enjoy uninterrupted access to high-speed data services even while they are in-flight, he added.
Airtel is the third largest mobile operator in the world with operations in 16 countries across Asia and Africa. “We look forward to collaborating with all partner members to ensure this platform goes Live at the earliest,” Vittal said.

 New Delhi: Telecom operator Bharti Airtel will offers its customer cashback of Rs. 1,500 over three years on purchase of two models of itel 4G smartphones priced at Rs. 4,599 and Rs. 4,699.

“We are delighted to partner itel as we expand our range of affordable 4G smartphones with an aim to enable every Indian to own a 4G smartphone and be a part of the digital revolution,” Bharti Airtel Chief Operating Officer Ajai Puri said in a statement.
nder the scheme, Airtel customers will need to make a down payment of Rs. 4,599 for Transsion’s itel A40 and Rs. 4,699 for the itel A41 smartphone. Both smartphones will come bundled with a monthly recharge pack of Rs. 169 from Airtel that will offer 500 MB of data per day and unlimited calling within India.
The cashback benefit of Rs. 1,500 will be given to customers over a period of 36 months.
“At the end of 18 months, customers who have done recharges (in any denomination of their choice) worth Rs. 3000 will be eligible for the first cashback instalment of Rs. 500. They will be eligible for the second instalment of Rs. 1000 provided they complete another set of recharges worth Rs. 3000 over the next 18 months,” the statement added.
The cash will be credited to Airtel Payments Bank account of the customer under the scheme.”We are confident that the partnership will drive 4G adoption across the country and bring the best value to both itel and Airtel customers,” Transsion India Managing Director Marco Ma said.

Reliance Jio has introduced new prepaid recharge offers as part of the ‘Happy New Year 2018’ offer. The company has essentially revamped its existing plans to offer either 50 per cent more data or Rs 50 discount on the price of the plans. The new recharge plans will be valid from January 9.
With the launch of ‘Happy New Year 2018’ offer, Jio is going aggressive with the data pricing, giving tough competition to rivals. To give a perspective, Jio’s Rs 149 recharge offer gives users a total of 28GB 4G data for 28 days, which is one of the cheapest in the industry. Additionally, Jio’s plans come bundled with free unlimited voice calls, SMS, and access to Jio’s suite of apps.
Let us take a look at the budget recharge offers below Rs 200 from Reliance Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone:

Reliance Jio’s Rs 149 prepaid plan, which currently offers 4.2GB total data with 0.15GB as the daily FUP (Fair USage Policy), has been upgraded to give users 28GB data. Validity is 28 days. The new offer puts FUP of 1GB per day.
In comparison, Airtel has a slightly expensive Rs 199 prepaid recharge plan that gives users 1GB 3G/4G data per day for 28 days. Customers also get unlimited local, STD, roaming incoming and outgoing calls. Airtel’s Rs 199 plan includes 100 SMS per day as well.
Vodafone prepaid customers get 1GB data per day for 28 days at Rs 198. The recharge pack also offers unlimited local and STD voice calls. Users get 100 free SMS per day, which is roughly 2800 text messages in a month

Reliance Jio’s Rs 198 recharge offer now gives 42GB data, compared to the earlier offering of 28GB with a validity of 28 days. The pack has a 1.5GB daily data limit.
Airtel’s Rs 349 plan offers 2GB of data per day with unlimited local and STD calls. Users also get free outgoing national roaming and free SMS (limited to 100/day). The plan is valid for 28 days. The plan previously offered 1.5GB data per day. However, it was recently revised to give users 2GB daily data.
Vodafone users who need 1.5GB 4G/3G data per day for 28 days will have to recharge with the company’s Rs 349 plan. The company is also offering unlimited local and STD calls to any number and free roaming as well. However, it is to be noted that there is a cap of 250 minutes per day and 1000 minutes per week on outgoing calls. Those who opt for this plan will also get a free subscription to Vodafone Play.
